The age of comic book movies is upon us. Some are getting tired of it, while others are embracing it. In Episode 17 of The Coldbow Podcast, Troy, Jake, Reese, Scott, and Chris discuss our favorite comic book films that are not part of the mainstream Marvel and DC canon. The rules are very relaxed here. Come in and listen and you may walk away with a new set of films to put on your watch list.
Reese, Scott, Chris, Troy and Jake have a discussion about the 1993 classic Tombstone. Starring: Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Powers Booth, Michael Biehn, Stephen Lang, Thomas Haden Church, Michael Rooker, Bill Paxton and Sam Elliot. Directed by: George P. Cosmatos. Some of us liked it, some of us will fight you if you don't like it, some didn't like it, one of us changed our mind (kinda) part way through the recording. Listen to what the Coldbros have to say about this one-liner machine of a masterpiece!
The whole gang is here for this one! Jake, Troy, Chris, Reese, and Scott sit down in Jake’s new apartment to discuss and rank the characters of the hit TV show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This show revolves around a gang of 5 vile, self centered, low life’s in their 30s. Sound familiar? Because it’s been a favorite of ours for so long, we decided to discuss the individual characters in not so great detail.
We've passed the half way point in 2018. What were your favorite movies this year so far? What were your biggest disappointments? What are you still looking forward to? The Coldbros discuss this year in movies so far.
The Coldbros review The Fall (2006) - a film by Tarsem Singh starring Lee Pace. Listen in as the guys spend way too long discussing the country of origin of Alexandria, the main character (played by Catinca Untaru). SPOILER: Troy is right and Reese is wrong (as usual). Cinematography by Colin Watkinson.
The Alien Franchise. One of Hollywoods longest running, continuous franchises to date. There are some major heavy hitters here. Including Sigourney Weaver, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Joss Whedon, Danny McBride (our next hopeful for James Bond), and so much more. All 5 of the Coldbros STACK and discuss the 6 official Alien movies; Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Alien: Resurrection, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant. Will you agree with the Coldbow Stack? We may or may not get a little philosophical.
Listen in as the crew, minus Jake, have a wandering conversation about what makes a good opening scene to a movie. Does it set the tone for the rest of the movie? Does it hook you into the plot or characters? There are many factors that go into this topic and, for some reason, we thought we'd tackle it. As usual we all give our unyealding opinions, who's right or wrong is up to you!

Troy, Scott, Reese and Jake gather round to discuss comedy. We talk about how comedy works. Why it works. The different genres of comedy. We talk about some of the greats that really shined in their respective genres. Then we each give our personal favorite comedian, both current and all-time.
As always, we are excited to bring this episode to you and cannot wait to hear all the things we got wrong. So take a listen and give us some feedback. Enjoy!

Troy’s dumb joke from Episode 3 comes full circle as we review and discuss a dumb movie with tons of cameos. That movie is Run Ronnie Run (2002) starring David Cross (Arrested Development) and Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul). Hilarity ensues, tears might have been shed, and we all gained a deeper understanding of each other.
